What Is a Pan Connector?

A pan connector joins the outlet of your toilet pan to the soil pipe. It creates a watertight, airtight seal, so waste flows away cleanly and no odours escape. When a toilet is moved, replaced or leaks at the back, the pan connector is often the part that needs changing.

Types of Pan Connector

  • Straight connectors – for pans that line up directly with the soil pipe.
  • Offset connectors – for small differences in position between pan and pipe.
  • Bends – turn the connection through an angle, such as into the floor.
  • Flexible connectors – bend to bridge awkward gaps and angles.

Sizes

Most UK soil pipes are 110mm (4") in diameter. Check the outside diameter of your pan outlet and the size of the soil pipe, as connectors are made to fit both ends.

Measuring for the Right Fit

Measure the distance between the pan outlet and the soil pipe, and check whether they are in line, offset or at an angle. Each product page lists the connector's length and diameters so you can compare it with your toilet.

Fitting Tips

Make sure the pan outlet and soil pipe are clean and dry before fitting, and push the connector fully onto both ends. Do not stretch a flexible connector beyond its stated length, as this can weaken the seal.

Planning a Wall Hung Toilet?

Wall hung pans connect to the soil pipe through the frame. See our wall hung toilet frames for the supporting frame and cistern.
